As if having eight lambs weren’t enough - we recently purchased some Montadales from our local Lehman Nursery. Many thanks to our friend Em and all who supported the Poor Man's Supper at Our Lady of Victory Parish during Lent. The littlest one was given to us for free because she had three broken legs and is being bottle fed - so cute!
Congratulations, Paulette, on her first skein of yarn! Paulette has been coming to the farm to learn how to spin wool. She enjoys the drop spindle.
To celebrate Earth Day, Misericordia University sent over about 20 students to help out on the farm. The group was very productive, helping build the new pig pen to accommodate the five pigs we will be getting this weekend. A few students also helped pick and card wool. It was a great day overall!
Time to plow - many thanks to our good friend Tim for working the John Deere and plowing up the cover crop. We are sure it was more fun than work for him!
Beekeeper or cheesemaker? Our beekeeper Eric came by to build us a cheese press to make cheeses from the sheep’s milk we will be getting soon from our ewes. Eric is a man of many talents!
Mark your calendars - Sheep shearing is Saturday, May 7. We do not have a definite time yet, but it will be in the late afternoon. We will keep you posted.
Send us your prayer intentions. Let us continue to pray for each other.
