A Merry Christmas Season and many blessings for the New Year!
The calm end to autumn and peaceful Advent on the farm has turned to a bitter cold start to winter and Christmas season. We have not escaped Winter Storm Elliott here in NEPA, though the cold temperatures have been far worse than the snowfall. Our chickens are cozy in their coop, thanks to our friend Kurt who moved it for us from the upper pasture to down below, and the seminarians from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary who built the fence for the chicken run. Sheep and goats share run-ins and have plenty of hay.
We had good news from the IRS - our tax-exempt status has been approved! All gifts to the farm are now tax deductible. The official name of the corporation is Dorothy Day Catholic Worker, and donations support both our farm expenses and Larry’s blog and podcast/video channel.
We are very grateful to the John P. and Ann Marie Martin Charitable Trust for their generous donation of $10,000, assuring we will be able to “feed the sheep” all winter. Even more precious to us are the many small gifts we receive from all over the country. Knowing that people love and support our work affirms that the farm ministry continues to be God’s will for us and helps to keep us going.
Please send us your prayer intentions, and we will include them in our Morning Prayer. We receive many requests for prayers for conversion for loved ones who have fallen away from the faith or who simply need to know that God loves them. These are particularly meaningful, as we know truly that God’s love conquers all fear. Love never fails.
But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God. John 1:12
