The Back Mountain Youth Group came to the farm on Saturday to help with some fall clean-up. A dozen high school students from Catholic parishes in the Back Mountain, PA, spent the morning clearing tomato cages and stakes from the field, and husking beans for winter storage. We began the day with Morning Prayer, led by Our Lady of Victory/Gate of Heaven pastor Fr. Dan Toomey, worked in the field a bit, and spent time in the chapel to pray for our families. After lunch, the group took a trip into Wilkes-Barre to visit Ruth’s Place, a shelter for homeless women, before getting some recreation time at the Catholic Youth Center. Then, it was back to the farm for Evening Prayer and the Vigil Mass. These teens were so helpful, and very kind and respectful - a bright future for the Church!
