Participants of the High School Summer Residential Enrichment Program run by the King’s College McGowan Hispanic Outreach had a wonderful day exploring the farm, celebrating Mass with Fr. Eric Schimmel, CSC, and sharing a meal. Many thanks to Reyna Logsdon, coordinator of the program, for organizing the event. That afternoon, Austin Robuck, a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, stopped by to see the farm with his brother while they were in the area. Please pray for his, and for all vocations.
We are very grateful to our friends Patrick and Kate Walsh for farmsitting for us, giving Farmer Larry a much needed break. They took wonderful care of the animals, and started the painting of the chicken coop, a project that was completed by students from local Misericordia University during a service trip to the farm. The students also helped pick wool, preparing it for spinning. Carmina’s sister Joan brought her family that same day to help out. The local newspaper ran a very nice story on the day.
Friends from Emmaus PA, Fred and Chris Kimmock paid a surprise visit after a day of kayaking nearby. We were happy for their organic gardening ideas for our raised beds, and sent them home with a few eggplants.
As summer draws to a close, we are looking to plant a cover crop to prepare the soil for next year’s planting. Please keep us in prayer, as you are in ours. Send us your prayer intentions!
Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin, pray for us.
